R&M Modernizes RJ45 Portfolio

Date:

R&M, the globally active developer and provider of high-end infrastructure solutions for RJ45 Portfolio data and communications networks, based in Wetzikon, Switzerland, is harmonizing its RJ45 module offering. The connection modules for local area networks (LAN) feature a universal design. The number of variants is being reduced to two per category. Installers and planners can now find the right solution for their LAN project more quickly. They no longer have to search through the catalog to put together the suitable Ethernet modules and components. Trade, purchasing and warehouses need to manage fewer parts and product numbers.

R&M’s Cat. 6A EL4.0 module in shielded and unshielded version: RJ45 connection module for data networks with transmission performance of up to 10 Gigabit Ethernet. The dust cover flaps are optionally available in different colors, allowing color coding at the module level.
At the same time, R&M is simplifying work processes on the construction site. The installation of the modernized Cat. 6A, Cat. 6 and Cat. 5e modules requires less effort. All modules work with the Easy Lock quick mounting technology from R&M. Easy Lock turns the mounting of the wire guide, the connecting of the copper wires and the closing of the housing into one work step. In addition, R&M has integrated functions such as tension relief, color coding and dust cover flap into the housing. This means that installers are handling fewer loose small parts that have a tendency to be dropped and thus lost.

R&M is also gradually phasing out plastic packaging. R&M offers RJ45 modules as bulk goods in thin-walled boxes made of recycled cardboard or individually packaged in paper bags. Installers have direct access and do not have to cut open plastic bags. Packaging waste is thus reduced and can be disposed of separately using the established cardboard cycle.

Modules for LAN up to 10 Gigabit Ethernet and more The harmonized portfolio of Ethernet connection modules is part of the R&Mfreenet cabling system for structured LAN cabling. The focus is on the R&M products Cat. 6A EL4.0, Cat. 6 EL4.0 and Cat. 5e EL4.0. EL stands for «Easy Lock»; 4.0 stands for the fourth generation. The new RJ45 modules are offered without adapters and fit in all network outlets and patch panels of the R&Mfreenet system. R&M offers adapters for mounting in third-party products, such as Keystone, separately. This makes the RJ45 modules from R&M fit for any purpose all over the world.

Installers can use the EL4.0 modules in all 19-inch panels and outlets of the R&Mfreenet system.
R&M offers the LAN connection modules as a shielded version with a zinc die-cast housing and as an unshielded version with a plastic housing. In the Cat. 6A EL 4.0 version, metal fibers in a plastic housing reduce alien crosstalk, which attenuates signal transmission. The EL 4.0 module range covers all requirements of building, office and IT networks up to 10 Gigabit Ethernet. The ISO module range also provides additional system margins and enables transmission rates of up to 40 Gbit/s.

Sustainable packaging for both individual and bulk goods. Background reports can be found in the series of specialist magazines CONNECTIONS from R&M. The next issue will be published in April and contains even more additional information on RJ45 harmonization and the history of Category 5e to Category 8.1 connectivity technology for local data networks, which R&M has helped to shape since the 1990s. The R&M YouTube channel shows how to install the RJ45 modules.
